About the Role

The Editor role will primarily be focused on leading edits for 53Six Productions - including branded content, social content, TVCs, television and feature documentaries. The Editor will also look after the technical post-production process, workflow & archive management.

Role & Responsibilities:

Editing

• Edit assembly (including ‘social’ formats)

• Offline editing 

• Forming the edit narrative in collaboration with the director or producer

• At times proactively creating and leading the edit narrative where needed 

Prepping projects or overseeing project preparation, at times with freelance assistant editors, including: 

• Synching rushes

• Creating proxies for offline editing

• Logging rushes

• Prepping project files

• Telecining

Onlining edits

• Prepping for soundmix and grade

  • aaf. omf. edl formats

• GFX - using AE or PS and integrating GFX packages

• Multi-platform exporting

• Creating teaser/social cuts - often with varying formats (16:9, 1:1, 9:16 etc.)

• Creating subtitles

• Syncing together final graded files, sound mix and graphics package for delivery to client and/or media team

Colouring

• Occasional ‘self-grade’ of edits for delivery

Sound mixing

• Occasional self-mixes of edits for delivery

Archive management

• Using in-house archive and server system

• Hard-drive management for shoots

• Storage of shoot material and management of deep archive and backups

Post-production work-flow

• Building on the current workflow and identifying systems to improve it where necessary

• Maintaining the workflow and continually driving standards to streamline the systems

• Managing workflow for any freelance editors to edit remotely or in studio

• Ensuring freelancers are equipped with any assets or access required to effectively and efficiently work for short periods with us

Candidate:

• Proven ability to work closely in a small team with tight schedules

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment or has worked in a production agency or ‘in-house’ previously

• Highly creative and narrative driven individual with a passion for engaging storytelling

• Someone who keeps on top of new editing techniques and programmes that can be added to our repertoire

Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of Premiere

• In-depth knowledge or Media Encoder or Da Vinci

• Bonus - After Effects and Photoshop

• Broadcast experience with end to end pipeline knowledge a preference

• Very strong communication skills to keep the production team updated at all times
